Madurai Airport (IATA: IXM, ICAO: VOMD) is a primary airport serving Madurai and surrounded districts in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located about 12 km (7.5 mi) from the Madurai railway station and near State Highway 37, the airport was established in 1957. It is the fourth busiest airport in the state of Tamil Nadu after Chennai, Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli. The airport is expected to reach maximum capacity in the fiscal year 2017.
