Material of the Future is an independent documentary film that explores humanity's current relationship with plastic, both its benefits and risks to the environment, science, culture, and human health. Directed by Vern Moen, member of the Plastiki voyage, the film had its premiere at the Friday Harbor Film Festival on November 7, 2014. Originally, the film premiered in 2012 as part of the film Plastiki and the Material of the Future but was subsequently separated into its own film.
