The Elder Scrolls Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing video game developed by ZeniMax Online Studios. It was originally released on April 4, 2014, for Microsoft Windows and OS X. It is a part of The Elder Scrolls fantasy franchise, of which it is the first open-ended multiplayer installment. On January 21, 2015, it was announced that an active subscription would not be needed to play the game from March 17, 2015, onwards. The game was then renamed as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console versions were released on June 9, 2015.
