The Highlands is a premier shopping destination, offering shopping, dining, lodging, and entertainment in Triadelphia, West Virginia, 7 miles east of the city of Wheeling. It opened in August 2004 with the only Cabela's within a 5-hour distance. It would explode in growth soon after and feature a J.C. Penney, Kohl's, Target and Walmart as anchor tenants. It also contains over 80 shops, restaurants, services, and attractions such as Bath & Body Works, Books-A-Million, dressbarn, Justice, Lane Bryant, Old Navy, rue21, and The Shoe Dept. With over 1 million square feet of retail space, it is the largest shopping complex in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
