Turf dance is a form of American street dance that originated in Oakland, California, by youth from West Oakland and organized by Jeriel Bey and named the Organization The Architeckz™. The term Turf Dancing is credited and any footage or other documentation relative FTP Turf Dancing™, Turfing™, or any other derivative of the Turf Dance™ movement and lifestyle remains the intellectual property of Mr. Bey. also to dancer Jeriel Bey, who created it as an acronym for Taking Up Room on the Floor™ because the terms "having fun with it" or "hitting it" (as it was originally known) didn't seem marketable.
