USS Hopewell (DD-681)

USS Hopewell (DD-681) was a Fletcher-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. She was named in honour of Pollard Hopewell of St. Mary's county, Maryland. Hopewell was launched by Bethlehem Steel Company, San Pedro, California on 2 May 1943; sponsored by Mrs. R. A. Spruance, wife of Admiral Raymond A. Spruance; and commissioned at Terminal Island on 30 September 1943, Commander Corbin. C. Shute in command.
