Ukiha, Fukuoka

Ukiha (うきは市 Ukiha-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The modern city of Ukiha was established on March 20, 2005, from the merger of the former town of Ukiha (浮羽町 Ukiha-machi) absorbing the town of Yoshii (both from Ukiha District). As of 2003, the former town had an estimated population of 16,359 and a population density of 183.27 persons per km². The total area was 89.26 km². As of April 1, 2005, the new city has an estimated population of 33,177 and a population density of 139 persons per km². The total area is 117.55 km².
