Viasat 1

Viasat 1 is a Ghanaian television channel owned by the Swedish listed media group, Modern Times Group (MTG). The channel was awarded a licence from the National Communications Authority of the Republic of Ghana in December 2007 and started broadcasting on December 12, 2008 on 6 p.m. The first programme on the channel was the movie Duma, followed by The Cosby Show, Friends and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Viasat 1 was MTG's first venture in Africa and became the fifth terrestrial television network in Ghana after GTV, Metro TV, TV3 and TV Africa.
