It is located along the headwaters of the East Fork of the West Branch of the St. Joseph River, part of the Maumee River watershed leading to Lake Erie. It is 7 miles (11 km) south-southwest of Hillsdale, the county seat. Cambria was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.
