Georges Colonna Ceccaldi

Georges Colonna Ceccaldi (1840-1879) was an antiquities dealer. His brother Tiburce Colonna Ceccaldi was the French consul to Cyprus between 1866-1869. Georges provided various museums with Cypriot antiquities, including the British Museum, the Louvre and in the 1872 he sold 40 artefacts from his collection to the Musée d’Archéologie Nationale. He excavated in the site of Idalion and Athienou. The correspondence of the two brothers with other officials active in antiquities dealing in Cyprus, such as Luigi Palma di Cesnola, was published by Olivier Masson.
